Why Your Customers Matter…
Anyone who’s ever worked in Customer Service can tell you that they spend two thirds of their lives getting yelled at. As a veteran of the customer service arena I can tell you that depending on the company you work for it can be higher even than that. So it is with great humility that I point out the following: our customers are awesome. Why are they awesome?
Well beyond the fact that they chose us (which frankly is pretty darned exciting) in the course of our days we come into contact with plenty of people who are not having a great day. In fact most often by the time we get a phone call or an e-mail, we are greeted with customers who are at their absolute wits-end. It’s Monday and they can’t backup their data, and their computer’s about the crash and they didn’t sleep last night; that sort of thing. So for me to still be able to honestly say that our customers are awesome is a big deal.
A REALLY big deal.
It is important for any business to understand the importance of their customer base. These are the people who make or break your company…they deserve some respect. Even more than that, we believe that good customer service stems from caring about your customers. I love my job and I’m still not a fan of Mondays, so when someone contacts us and they’re in that Monday-no-backup-blue-screen-of-death-no-sleep situation, we genuinely want to help. And that’s where we believe good customer service lives. Because if you care that your customer’s not getting sleep because they’re worried about their data, and you know there’s something you can do about it, you’re going to work even harder to help them.
They say that “the customer is always right” and I’m not sure if that’s always true but I can say for sure that your customers (and their happiness) matter. In fact, from where I’m standing, they might even be more important that your product.
But then I’m the Customer Champion; what else am I going to say?
See you next blog,
Oh yeah, here’s the other reason that our customers are awesome: they send us cookie cake!
(Thanks to Zelda’s Sweet Shoppe in Skokie, IL who sent us this delicious treat. Visit their website at http://www.zeldas.net to learn more about their treats…looks like they cater too)!
