How to Setup Multi-User Mode |

When you want to use inFlow in multi-user mode, you will
need to pick one computer as your server.
The server will host the inFlow data, and other computers (called
clients) will connect to the server. The
server computer should typically be:
- Powered on most of the
time, allowing clients to connect
- One of the fastest
computers you have available
Do the following on the server to set up inFlow in
multi-user mode:
- Install inFlow on the
server computer.
- From the File menu, choose
Switch to Multi-User mode.
- Select Set up this computer as server
- Click the button to
begin setting it up as a server.
- Once it's
finished, make note of the server name and password shown at the end. Once in multi-user mode, you can get
this information again by selecting Change Connection from the File menu.
Then to set up the other computers with inFlow
- Install inFlow on the
client computer.
- From the File menu,
choose Switch to Multi-User mode.
- Select I have another computer already set up
as server
- Enter in the server name
and password you made a note of above, and click Connect.
The multi-user mode of inFlow is designed primarily within a
local area network (LAN) environment.

Hi Falokun,
Yes, you can use inFlow standalone. If you're trying to use inFlow standalone and get the Server Connection dialog, chances are something didn't quite work during the installation. Can you take a look at our troubleshooting guide here:

I'm getting ready to buy a qty of licenses for our little division and start using inflow.
I've been experimenting and using the free version.
I really like it. Just enough of what we need.
I have a dedicated workstation (XPpro) that will just sit there on the lan to run inflow and store documents for our division.
It's clear to me that each different person/client accessing the inflow server software will need a license.
But what license do I need for the server copy of inflow?
Do I need to use 1 license out of the user quantity I purchase?
I don't see that I can use 1 of the two activations for person X. Or can I.. since no one will be "accessing" the database from the local copy if inflow running on the dedicated workstation (acting as a server) - even though the 1st copy will be used by person X?

Hi Bob, you're right that each person running inFlow would need a separate license. However, since each license key can be used on two computers as long as they don't use inFlow at the same time, one of the licenses can be used by both the server and a client machine. Just don't open inFlow on the server machine when the client machine is using it, which can save you from buying one more license. Hope this helps. Does the "Server" need to be running on MS Server operating system or workstation opsys? Is it better to run it on Server (2003 say) or is it a waste of money.
Better Database??
Use is in-corporate (500 staff) hardware and consumeables purchasing, stock, allocation of usage costs and Asset Register /Tracking ??

The server has to be a Windows machine, but doesn't need to be a MS Server. XP and Vista are fine also. There shouldn't be any differences. For the backend database, we use Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition, which should be good enough for normal business. But you can upgrade that to other edition as you see fit.
