The recommended way to handle colour and size variations is using the “copy” button in the product entry toolbar.

Once you have entered all your product information you can use that button to duplicate the record, then you can adjust the necessary details and save.  Keep in mind that your product entries must have unique item codes so if you are using an already existing code (or the same code for all your sizes) you can differentiate by using a suffix.  As an example: if your product code is 29346 and you have five sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL) you can set up your codes as 29346-XS, 29346-S, 29346-M etc and adjust your descriptions to reflect the different sizes.

By setting up a new product record for each different size you will be able to use the reorder stock function to order only the sizes you require (for instance XS may not be a very popular size, so you will only need to carry a few of these) and you will be able to track the popularity of various sizes in your reports.
