User IDs, Server Names and Web Accounts, oh my! |

User Name and Password
Much like the login details for your copy of Windows, the User Name is a profile that is tied to the database and allows you to sign in and look at your data. But what if you start the program and it asks you to log in with a user account you didn’t set up? ![]() When you install inFlow, the program will set up a “Default User” profile for you to use in order to access the program (you must have a profile to access the program). If you intend to always use the same user profile on this computer, you can tell the program to log in automatically using the checkbox underneath the password entry field. This tells the program to log in using this profile each time, but you’ll still be able to switch users if you want to. “Default User” comes without a password so if you see the screen above you should be able to log in without entering a password. Once you have logged in, you can set up a password for that profile, create new profiles (for other users accessing the same database or using your computer) and make changes to security access for any of the above using the Settings window (Main Menu > Settings > General Settings, Users icon). ![]() For more information on User Access click here: Security and User Access Server Name and Password The Server name and Password are the information required to connect two or more computers running inFlow. This amounts to the computer name/ IP address and a password which has been generated by the program. These items allows client computers to access the data housed on the server and will need to be entered during multi-user setup. When setting up Multi-user mode, inFlow will ask you for the Server Name and Password on client computers. This info is actually provided to you by the program when you set up the Server. It will display the Name of the computer which was set up as the server and its IP address as well as a randomly assigned password (like the one in the example below). ![]() It is these details which are needed to connect your client computers to your server (i.e. the computer that’s housing your data) and are entered into the connection window, which can be access via the Main Menu > Settings > Change Connection. And if you aren’t sure what the details are (or need to remember) the information is also accessible via this window but only from the Server Computer. Once you have that information available it can be entered through the Change Connection window on the client computer to connect to the server. ![]() For more information on Multi-User Mode click here: How to Set up Multi-User Mode Web Accounts Your Web Account is what was e-mailed to you when you first purchased your inFlow license key. The Web Account consists of the e-mail with which you registered yourself as a user and the password which was provided in addition to your licenses. Remember this e-mail? ![]() When activating (or re-activating), it can be very helpful to see all the licenses at once as they will tell you if they’ve been activated. In addition to which, if you leave all other activated copies of inFlow running, the program will identify which license keys are active so you can avoid activating the same key on two computers and causing conflicts. We recommend always using your web account to activate rather than attempting to activate using the license keys, though either way the activation will be completed with the same result. ![]() For more information on activating your license key click here: Upgrading From Free to Regular or Premium Edition So there you have it! We hope this has helped to clear things up and if you have any questions please let us know at support@inflowinventory.com and remember: User Name = Log into your computer Server Name = Log into your server Web Account = Access your license key(s) |
