You can organize your products into different categories. For example, a clothing distributor might first categorize clothing by the brand name, and then subcategorize by the type of clothing articles (e.g. T-shirts, Pants, etc).

To see and manage your product categories, click Product Categories from the View Box of the Inventory Module.

inFlow Inventory allows you to set up your categories to any depth. Also, categories do not all need to be the same depth, so you can subdivide only certain categories.

To add a new Category, click the Add button. This will prompt you for the name of the new category.

Empty categories that have no subcategories within them can be deleted. To do this, select the empty category, then click the Remove button. If there are any products within this category, they will automatically be moved to the parent category. If this is a top-level category, inFlow will choose another category and ask if you wish to move the products into that category. This also applies for inactive products within those categories.

You can view the Product Information for a product by selecting the category the product falls under, and then double clicking the product line on the right side.

Reorganizing your Categories

You may drag and drop your categories using the tree on the left side of the Product Categories screen to rearrange them. For example, you may promote a category to be a top-level category by clicking and dragging the category onto the Product Categories item.

Reorganizing your Products

You may also drag and drop products into different categories. To do this, select the category the product is currently in. Then, click and drag the product from the right side of the Product Categories screen onto the new category you wish to move it to.

You can also select a number of products at once by clicking the first one, then holding shift and clicking the last one. Then, all of these products can be dragged to another category at once.
