How can I Source Cheap Products from China and India?

July 15th, 2008

Made in China ProductEveryone knows about globalization nowadays.  Developing countries like China and India are known for their cheap exports.  If you go to Wal-Mart and pick a random item off the shelf, chances are it’s made in a developing country.

Big enterprises have a vast network of foreign suppliers and professional purchasers to take advantage of the cheap importing opportunities.  As a small business owner, it might be difficult for you to find good and reliable foreign suppliers.  The good news is that the internet helps level the playing field.

Alibaba is an online business-to-business platform connecting buyers and suppliers, with an emphasis on suppliers from developing countries.  You can search by products, prices, countries, or even special deals.  If eBay is the trading place between consumers, then Alibaba is the trading place between businesses.

If you are curious as to whether you can raise your profit margins by finding cheaper suppliers, Alibaba might be a good starting point.

Alibaba is a good platform for online b2b trade. You should also try TradeKey.com, ec21 & ecplaza as other online marketing channels.

Hi, this is about Finding the right business to franchise requires a lot of research and consulting with experts. But it does not need to be expensive. You do not want to be spending all your money when you do not have a business to run yet.

You could try Global Sourcing in the UK. They have a Chinese and London based office and source products from China and ship globally. http://www.gsource.co.uk is their web address.

    Hello:

souring product from Chin acan have many hassles:

We advice to use global sources ( ALIBABA has too many crooks, as the name alibaba imnplies) Also Alibaba doesnot really check a company, so there are many sellers of fake goods, which is a shame!

better is : go to china by yourselves or hire a sourcing service company like ours

i agree to the above what “china sourcing service” said.

i’ve tried some times to do business with china through internet and email, and in several cases i found out that the companies i were dealing with, were fake companies.

once, one of them took from me 4K usd, and i had no way to receive my money back… no way at all!

    be very careful.. !!

It unfortunate but true that careful must be the watchword. These tips from eHow.com may help http://www.ehow.com/how_15314_check-companys-legitimacy.html but often you can verify by asking for official documentation from the company and checking it out with the local government office.
